Attorney Richard DiGirolamo, representing Green Cab, told the members that his client is requesting a fare increase of 13%. That amount taken over five years is 2.6%, which is less that the annual rise in the cost of living. Green Cab would continue to offer a 20% discount to senior citizens. Chairman Roche will schedule a public hearing of the proposed fare increase on February 21st at 6:00 PM. The record on this item will remain open until February 21, 2012 at 6:00 PM, at which time the committee will meet to move on the item.

Alderman Trane’s motion that the Chief of Police conduct sting operations on non-licensed cabs operating in the city and report the results to the Committee on Traffic and Parking, was approved.

The Committee voted to approve an increase in the first eighth of a mile to $1.75 (up from $1.50), and an increase in additional eighths of a mile to $0.45 (up from $0.40).
